1988 rx7 gxl
Hello everyone. Just joined the club, happy to be e new member. Hoping for some help or direction. My RX7 has 10,000 original miles. My original radio/cassette player is no longer working. Any suggestions on where to look for repairs or replacement? Thanks for any help!

welcome to the board.
yes. please share
as far as your question goes, i would suggest checking out your local scene for people that restore cars. someone in that business might be able to direct you further.
you could also utilize the Regional forum here, and see if anyone has any ideas.

Car was owned by a Japanese sport car collector in Naples, FL This was the same year, model RX7-GXL, white exterior and blue leather interior colors that I bought brand new back in 1988. I am hoping to keep the original radio/cassette player and have it repaired or replaced with the identical unit. No luck so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice find, looks solid and well cared for. In the long run, it pays to buy good condition examples. I think google will be your best option to find someone who would work on this 30 year old system. Keep the forum posted if find anyone.
Unfortunately, most places that have any experience are most likely retired or semi retired at his point. Parts will be another issue as well. Might check eBay for like units being sold from other cars being parted. You'd surprised what you can find if you turn over enough rocks.

I just received a screw from Japan to replace a missing one in one of the storage bins, it took awhile to find by it was worth the effort.
I also need to find other small stock parts from someone who has a parts car and willing to take the time to remove them for me.
I also received a Genuine Part by Mazda with the correct parts number, but it is not an exact match for what I need. It is a hood hinge wide flange bolt, but the bolthead does not have the grade 8 on it. It is a nice SS replacement, but not period correct.
Enjoy your RX-7 and drive it as much as you can! But a car as nice as yours deserves special care going forward.

I "maintain" my cars more than just drive them. With only 10K miles your car falls into this same category IMO. You need to use it to maintain it, but with so few miles that is where most of its value is. You might want to be careful not to put too many miles on it just for the sake of driving. It's the curse of owning a low mile classic.
A parts car is a great source for replacement hardware. I've collected a fair bit of OEM hardware over the years this way. I recycle them, blast them clean and have them re zinc'd. It's like having brand new hardware and really makes things pop when re assembled.

I read where someone does their own zinc plating, is it a difficult process to set up and do?
