FC3S VIS racing carbon fiber hood, hood pins

I've been hearing the fitment on these hoods are awesome. My question's, really is it necessary to have hood pins? It doesn't look like there's any sort of holes in the hood for the pins, I couldn't see it making sence to make your own holes. One retailer said nothing about pins, yet the vis racing site says they're required.

Retailer:

https://www.kidimports.com/exterior/...010c-24067.asp

VIS racing:

Any feedback would be great!

I would run hood pins. I've heard horror stories (and seen the aftermath) of not using hood pins with fpr/carbon hoods. EVEN THE SELLERS OF THESE HOODS RECOMMEND YOU USE PINS.

I think nrg makes flush mount pins if you're worried about it being UBER clean.

kid imports: 515 + 150 shipping = $665
carbonfiberhoods.net: 455 + 95 shipping = 550

Carbonfiberhoods.net is selling the same carbon fiber hood for more than $100 cheaper. You might want to shop around a bit more and be sure to order it well in advance because a lot of times these aren't kept in stock.

check it out home skillet

Thanks Azcamel,

I was looking for confirmation that my ViS hood is fine without drilling holes and putting on hood pins.

The stock aluminum FD hood didn't use pins, and the car was tested to close to 160 mph when it was first introduced. And my ViS hood doesn't flex NEARLY as much as the stock hood did on the freeway.

If you're worried about hoods flying up (because we see that all the time...???) drill holes and put on your hood pins. It's your hood after all so do what you want with it.

My hood was too expensive to drill holes in it based on what somebody heard somebody say happened, and blaming it on not having hood pins instead of admitting they actually forgot to latch the hood down.
