What's the best thing to soak carb. parts in?

Hey fellas,

I'm in the middle of rebuilding the Nikki and as usual have about an inch and a half of black crud caked on all the parts. I was going to use aerosol carburetor cleaner, but it evaporates too fast. What do you guys soak your carburetor parts in when you clean them? Is there some kind of parts cleaner you can put in a bucket with hot water? Something I can buy at Autozone?

Thanks in advance all!
Jamie

Go to the autoparts store. They should have carb cleaning 'buckets'. They work great!!

Only problem I found is you half to kinda put half in them flip it and do the other side. You could pour the chemicals into a different container for better results, but make sure it can handle it!!

Sorry, my first post wasn't very clear. I meant what type of chemical do you use? Is there a solvent or cleaning agent of some type that I can buy in a gallon jug and use? I've got a 5 gallon bucket that I'll be soaking all my carby parts in...

I use Canadian Tire brand Motomaster engine de greaser. Because it come in a bottle that you can pour into a bucket, than once you've let the carb soak you can pour the de greaser back into the original container. Clean carb and no waste.

But any de greaser / parts cleaner will probally work. Buy one in a pour bottle, not a spray can.
