I am going to give this fluid a try, namely because it was available locally, it's affordable, and it should hold up better to high heat / race conditions.

I used the m1 atf in my ps last year, easy job, so far so good. Just used a suction bulb out of the reservoir. I'll look up the specs later today and post it.

Just be sure to use an oil that meets the manufacturers specs (see the owners manual). I think I used something from Castrol since it was the only one that actually matched the specs. Its some special ATF.

Manual just says Dexron II or III. The Mobil1 bottle says its good for Dexron pre-2005 (post-2005 GM models require Dexron VI).

I've never seen any problems with PS fluid in general, so I don't put much thought into it. I got some synth PS fluid at the parts store (I think it was Valvoline) and all was fine.

I don't even think I've seen or heard of an FD PS pump going bad - I think that whole system is over-engineered in a nice way.

It will go bad if you run it dry.
Happened to me when the previous owner's mechanic installed a Greddy FMIC with a hose that wasn't rated for oil. Eventually it failed. RX7Specialists my ***...

I swear to god, my previous owner said he was an "RX7 specialist" too, lol.

I've been using the walmart Supertech stuff and so far nothing bad has happened.... Do different types of Power Steering Fluids do different things?

Different types of pumps and other mechanicals require different types of oils/fluids - power steering hydraulic pumps, engines, transmissions, diffs etc. Oils have special additive packages, weights, temp tolerances, shear ratings etc that vary according to the usage for which they were designed.

Its not that much effort to use the correct oil IMO.

mine sometimes gets rough for a couple mins and seems make a sound when i turn the wheel, but it happens on rare occasions i was thinking about changing fluid for mine as well.

I'm more so interested in this ideal "race condition" for a power steering pump.
Are you turning the wheels from lock to lock a bunch? If so, what kind of racing is that?

I just hung up with a racing shop who does specifically specialize in power steering upgrades and complete systems.. He giggled when I asked about factory pumps and "racing fluids" but went on to give me the reasons why and expectations of upgraded power steering pumps.

For a truck which plays in the dirt and sand. He hasn't heard of a track-racing car which wanted to keep the power steering pump or even upgrade it.

Anyhow, I think you're barking up the wrong tree with PS racing fluid.
