Has anyone tried the fitment for the three different tires?

I know for certain the 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson ET Street II Radials fit the stock wheels and rear quarters with no modification on a lowered car but will rub the top of the wheel well if too low.

I want to know if the 26x11.5-16 ET Street bias-ply tires will fit under the quarters as well. The dimensions are very similar to the 255/50/16 Radials and are even the same model# under Mickey Thompson's site but just have a R designating the radial tire.

The dimensions are posted below. What do you guys think? Does anyone have experience with it? Maybe some pictures? Thanks a ton guys. Oh and sorry if this is a repost, I haven't found anything (maybe bad searching).

FD or FC?

I have the 26x11.5x16 ET streets mounted to FD rims on the back of my FC with a spacer. All they needed was a pull/roll on the fender. I'm quite sure others have had them on an FD without a problem. The 26x11.5x16 measure just aroud 10" in tread, and fit pretty much identically as my 275/40r17 street tires (not DR's though). Never tried the 255 DR's, but I'd go with the 275's if you want to go radials. However, if you are using stock FD wheels, go with the ET Streets, not only are they better for launching at the track, but I'm not sure DR's would maintain a nice flat contact patch on an under-sized wheel vs. the bias-ply tires.

Yeah it's for a FD. I'm using stock wheels as well. Thanks for your reply, I found a set of used 11.5's so I just wanted to be sure they would fit.

I've ran the radials, they are really heavy and slowed my car down, then the 10.5s which are a much better choice of those two. I should have bought the 11.5s when I had to buy another set recently, I've read they do fit.

The 11.5s will fit. Required some careful choice of wheels. That said, this car is in the 700hp range and I feel that the 11.5 is too much tire for it.

The long story...

The car is using an ACT light flywheel. The heavier of the two they offer. We've launched the car at 8k with 18psi and it either bites and goes (decently) or bogs. Even when it does not completely bog, the best 60 ft times are 1.6s. Nothing to write home about. From discussions I've had with a few people, it seems the inertia of a much heavier flywheel would help us here. Either that, or a smaller tire (less bite). Once it's passed 60 ft, that big, heavy tire is pretty much along for the ride anyway.

Think we've run them as high as 15 or 16 psi. Car never made it to the track this year, so I'm a bit sketchy on the details. I know we pumped them up enough where I started saying it's just too much tire.

There is an old thread about Ernie overpowering the 10.5s with about 700 hp and people suggested the 11.5s . Were you slipping the clutch a little? That always worked better, or tilton flow control valve.

i would go with 10.5's. i run them and have pretty consistent 60' times. i have talked to people that have run them both and unless your car has alot of power, you should stay away from the 11.5's. many have reported slower 60' times with the 11.5's but again it depends on your set up.

We've been side stepping the clutch. Car has only made maybe a dozen passes, so there's still a learning curve going on. But the situation is pretty obvious. I added a Tilton valve this year, but we haven't had a chance to test. Should be back out next spring to give it a try. I'm hopeful that it will help alot. I think a different flywheel, the Titlton valve, and the 11.5s will ultimately be a good combo. But what we have now is just not working.

I would just stay with the 10.5's. I was able to cut a best of 1.36 on them and that was free revs, no 2 step. Stock springs/struts, stock axles, TII diff. I am very confident they have much more in them.

Also dont be fooled.. A 11.5 tire on a 15 inch wheel (pic above) is differant than a 11.5 on a 16 wheel. Way more side wall!

I figured I would post a follow-up now that I have some tires. The 11.5's fit on stock wheels almost exactly like the 255/50R16 Street Radials do. They don't leave much room for expansion but they fit great. I attached some fitment pictures. It's a dark cloudy day so it's kind of hard to get a good shot with my phone.

Fitment is close but it works.


This is what happened to my old tires. Blew out at around 80mph, still no idea why.

Here is my input....

I run the 11.5's and I have cut a best 60 foot of 1.5. They helped my launch and my trap speeds.
